Service Pack 3 error

When I run the Service Pack 3 update I get an error which reads

"SERVICE PACK 3 COULD NOT BACKUP REGISTRY KEY. HKCR\CLSID\{51B4ABF3-748F-4E3B-A276-C828330E926A} TO FILE C:\WINDOWS\$NTSERVICEPACKUNINSTALL$\REG00673. 5 : ACCESS IS DENIED.

I get the options of abort, retry ignore but the only one that can be used is abort!

Has anyone got any ideas how I can put this right?

It's never happened before with an update.

Thanks

Do you have a Norton/Symantec product installed?
If so, you may need this prior to installing SP3 :

Thanks for the speedy replies. All I have installed is Avira AntiVir and Comodo Firewall Pro. Thanks Dan I'll have a look at your post.
