I know this is a stroll down memory lane for many. Due to illness I have not been computing for over a year. Automatic Updates keeps trying to install SP3 without success. I have read the many threads on this subject and wonder if I should still go for it? I understand I will have to temporarily disable my McAfee. I cannot for the life of me see how to disable it! This is an Intel Celeron machine. Thanks.

You do not say what McAfee product you have. I don't think I disabled my McAfee Internet Security at the time I downloaded SP3 a long time ago, but it will do no harm temporarily just in case to prevent any problems. There is no "one-click" button, you have to go into the program interface (Security Centre)and configure each part - e.g. computer antivirus, web safety products, etc and switch them all off.
