Afternoon

I'm having built a small server room to house 2 x monitors, 2 x 24 port switches, 6 x tower servers, 1 x rack server, 1 x UPS and around 10 x NAS drives.

The room will be around 2m x 3m and will have no ventilation other than a air vent drawing the hot air directly to outside the building.

What size and power of air vent should I be looking for my builders to install to the keep the room at a steady temperature?

The server room is being built in a 2nd floor room with one external wall, the room is already quite a warm room without the extra server heat.

Please give me a shout if you need any more info.

thanks for the help

A thermostat would be needed as depending on load the heat generated will vary. You need to know the optimum operating temperature for the equipment. All round air flow will be needed to prevent hot spots. Why not duct the heat to an airing cupboard or into a heating vent? More info click here
