'Server execution failed'

My mediaplayers are tempremental. When I'm playing mp3's they will occasionally stutter like a scratched CD and if I don't switch them off quickly the PC freezes. But just recently I managed to switch off mediaplayer when it happened again so I restarted the mp3 but this time I got a delay then a 'Server execution failed' error message. So I tried the mp3 in Final Media Player but this time the PC froze after a delay. It started happenening a few weeks ago but is now getting more and more frequent so much so that a proper PC shutdown is being outnumbered by PC freezes. I think it's something to do with my soundcard but I'm not sure. The card is SUPREMEFX X-Fi, Windows 7 Ultimate.

This should help - Download and Install the latest K-Lite Codecs pack (if you haven't already got it installed) from here - click here

Thanks for that northumbria61. I've now installed K-Lite codec pack. Also, I've kept Windows Mediaplayer but uninstalled all my other mediaplayers (I didn't realize I had so many) just in case there's a conflict between them. I'll reintruduce them one by one then wait a while to see if it happens again. Thanks again.
