I`d be inclined to clear cookies and temporary files to start with.
Start>Control Panel> Internet Explorer and delete each in turn. See how that goes.

If that doesn`t help try click here
Most other ways will be forthcoming from the guys who know a lot more than me.

I`m very slow tonight, please let us know your specs. (CPU, RAM, HDD)

Is your anti virus prog doing a full scan on startup? - that would certainly slow down anything else

  woodchip 23:45 30 May 2007

I would say AV is doing a AutoScan of your drive. try disabling it doing auto scan. set it to manual

Try this this is what I did;

Right click My computer Go down to properties
Then go to Hardware , Device Manager
Go to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers
Right click on Primary IDE Channel
Click on the Advanced Settings
If anything says PIO Mode only or PIO Follow these steps:
On the Primary IDE Channel Click on the Drivers Tab
Click Uninstall
Click off everything Windows should then ask to restart.
When restarted Windows Will find drivers and will reinstall
It might ask to restart again or it will restart itself
When its finished doing what its doing, Go back to the Primary IDE Channel If it Changed from PIO MODE TO ULTRA DMA MODE OR ULTRA DMA. Please reply back.

If it has changed to DMA MODE IT should be ok

For some reason its got 3 anti-virus' running at once.could this slow it down that much?

One antivirus at a time is the rule. More than that can have serious and unpredictable consequences. All you need is Avast - free click here, or AVG - free click here, but only one.
