SEO: Split Initial Keywords Across Opening Paras?

  SimpleSimon1 14:33 25 Feb 2007

Several knowledgeable contributors to this forum have said that, to promote search engine (especially Google) positioning, Title and H1 tags should contain your primary keywords AND these keywords should also be referenced as much as possible, in your opening 500 (or so) words.

Assuming that this 500 word (‘ish) limit is honoured, does anybody know whether it makes a difference if those keywords are all positioned in para 1 or are split between paras 1 - 3? My ‘design eye’ says that the layout would look better with my main keywords split between three short opening paras but, obviously, I don’t want to do this at the expense of search positioning.

Many thanks

I've found that placing my more important keywords near the beginning of paragraphs has more impact than at the end, especially in the title and description tags.
