Sending data 'tween 2 systems via serial link

Does anyone know of a program which I could download which will allow (via a serial cable connection - I have the cable) data exchange between two computers?

I know that serial is slow ... but time is not a problem.

The "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" included in my XP Pro system is not friendly to use and seems to hang when I try to copy a complete folder (directory). Years ago I used a DOS program called (I think) "Brooklyn Bridge" which showed data files and these could be selected for sending. So simple! The actual link was made by a small program called "Bridge" which was run 'up front' and took only seconds to initialise.

Thanks in advance for any input.
