sell old laptop

I want to sell my old knackered dell inspiron on ebay. I don’t know what is wrong with it- it was suggested it was the HD?

I want to have peace of mind that all my old data on the laptop is not accessible.
What can I do? Do I chuck the HD- Will that suffice?

Or can I clear the HD and sell the HD with it and therefore perhaps be more of an incentive to a buyer who thinks it might be fixable..

There are a few programs that will wipe your hard drive completely, but if it's knackered, you wont be able to run them.

With the price of laptops today, I would dispose of the whole thing, or give to charity,. It's not worth the cost of post and packing.

All the best.

Personally I would remove the hard drive and put that info with the details. That way you can then trash the hard drive safe in the knowledge that you destroyed it.

Hard drives are plentiful and cheap lately, and somebody may just buy it for tinkering with.

You could go to your local FREECYCLE area on the net and dispose of it for free.
Or you can donate it to a charity shop / group if you feel the need!
