I treated myself to a Sandisk Cruzer U3 flash drive recently and today searched the U3 Software site for some security software. I didnt recognise any of the freebie brands so downloaded Avast Antivirus U3 60 day trial. Part of the installation process was to scan the drive and .............. it found three malware affected files. So far so good, but the files were attached to/part of something I'd synchronised across from my laptop, GP10, which is the installation file for Panda Security 2010! So, Avast identifies malware attached to or part of another security programme's installation file. I'm not sure what to make of this so thought I'd ask on the forum, is this a classic "false positive" and does anyone know a good freebie for a U3 drive's protection?
