Security enabled is lost when router powered down

I have a cable modem going to a Dynamode wireless router. I set the wireless to be security enabled. When I unplug the modem and router (as we all do to fix stuff)the wireless connection reverts to an unsecured connection. Where is the information on the security enabled connection stored?

to get to my router settings i type into the address bar and hit enter and then log in.if no joy in the settings you may need to upgrade the firmware but read up on how to do it first in your router manual.

Thank you, but I can set up my security enabled
wireless, I am trying to figure out why it reverts to unsecured when I power off my modem and router.
