Keep getting this message which will not let me connect to internet."XP Security tool has blocked a programme from accessing the internet". My firewall has been turned off but unable to turn it on. XP Security keeps asking me to purchase it and this message always appears when I say no

It sounds like a virus. We've just had something similar, have spent all day today getting rid of it. We had a messages telling us that our computer was in serious danger, that we had a whole long list of viruses, trojans etc, and we were asked to purchase an upgrade to sort out the problem. It all looked as if it came from Microsoft, but it didn't. Have you checked whether anything shows up when you do a virus scan, or scan for spyware (e.g. with Spybot).

XP Security Tool is a rogue antivirus program - you need to stop the process before Malwarebytes can remove it. If you already have Malwarebytes it will have become corrupted , so you need to download it again. Follow this very carefully:

Manual Security Tool Removal Instructions:

Ctrl +Alt+Del - Taskmanager processes tab click process - click end process
Stop These Security Tool Processes:

Security Tool.exe
uninstall.exe

Find and Delete These Security Tool Files:

%System Root%\Samples
%User Profile%\Local Settings\Temp
%Program Files%\SecurityTool
%Program Files%\SecurityTool
%Documents and Settings%\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\SecurityTool
%Documents and Settings%\All Users\Application Data\SecurityTool

Start -run type regedit press OK navigate to keys
Remove These Security Tool Registry Values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run “SecurityTool”
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Vista Antivirus 2010
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\SecurityTool
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SecurityTool
