Securing a wireless broadband router

  HXP 23:14 05 Apr 2005

I have a Belkin wireless broadband router which i am trying to secure.

I have enabled 128 bit WEP on it and just enabled MAC address filtering & Blocked ICMP Ping.

I have Norton Internet security suite on my main PC and Zone Alarm & AVG on my other machine.

I am a bit lost by some of the things i have done but it all seems to work ....

I use the wireless on a PDA

Is my wireless connection protected from others using it and if not what else should I do ?

well seems fine to me, i dont know if your router has this feature but can you only let devices you give permission to link on WAN. that way it is very secure!!!

Using wep is fine if just a home network, if used for any kind of confidential work sugest using WPA encription (which is yet to be hacked).

Have you put your own unique password into the router?

Also disable SSID broadcasting click here this will make it harder for anyone to even find your network.
