secure sites problem

my laptop is all of a sudden not letting me into any secure sites. i'm with aol 9 running on xp. i've tried aol help to no avail. i've tried something with ssl port. aol said i might have download something from microsoft. i stuck now. please help.

It could be your firewall blocking port 443 which is the secure port https this link tells you about port 443 click here

The site is the same site, but its uses the https prefix click here

Which firewall are you using?

my firewall is just the windows one. the links on the above site when clicked bring up the same screen i'm getting with all secure sites. it says the page cannot be displayed

Just a thought, if you have downloaded something from Microsoft it may have increased the security settings, you could try lowering them by right clicking on the IE icon and going to the security tab and lowering the slider down a bit.

If it still doesn't work you could temporarily switch the firewall off and see if you can gain access. If you then can, there is a setting which needs changing.

tried both of those and still doesn't work.any other ideas?
