I'm not sure if i ask this question at the right forum.
Here is my question.
Firstly, I have a mail server at the office. I can happily use my outlook to access to the mailserver via IMAP with no problem. Everything works (can send and receive emails).
My question is this. say if i want to use my outlook at home which is away from the office where the mailserver is. I know that i can let this happen by letting the firewall know about my static IP address at home ADSL. I think it should work. I haven't tried it but theoretically it should work that way right?
If it is, my other concern is whether i can make this safe since i think all the messages between outlook at home and the mailserver are visible and less secure on the internet. Is there another way to make this connection secure? i know that i can perhaps use the alternative way i.e. the webmail client. But i'd just like to know this for the sake of knowledge and experience.
Thank you very much in advance
