Secure email?

  Col 10:59 09 Oct 2008

I have received an email with PDF attachment from a company that I placed an order with the data included my full address and bank details.

This came to my inbox same as all regular mail opened without request for passkey or anything.

The company said it is secure.

Question: How do I find out if this secure?

Thanks for your time Col

It`s a question many of us wonder about but are perhaps not too sure how to check:

I'd be very sceptical that they are taking data security seriously. How can this receipt in what is effectively plain text next be secure? If they do this the very least they should do is hide/blank elements of your data - especially card/bank details.

Ideally they should send a link to their site for you to click, taking you to an encrypted site with login so you can download the receipt.

Hi Both

I will have to send a written complaint to this company I have just purchased mobile broadband from, if it's legal I will disclose the name of this company.
Thank you for your comments. Col
