searchpage problem on Internet Explorer

  DexyMic 00:04 04 May 2004

Everytime I try to type in a website address or go to a page the net goes to C:|searchpage.html

I am unable to stop this from happening, spybot and Norton haven't fixed the problem. This is an incredably annoying problem and often totally prevents me from accessing the internet. I am using Windows XP and have downloaded all the updates currently available.

Please can someone help me. Thank you!

You have a trojen virus.
Run an updated anti virus prog + spybot-search & destroy.

to the page you want it to.
Delete all your cookies & temp internet files, history
Run CW Shreder (find at Google)

Or simply do a system restore to back before it started if you can remember.

Firstly, turn off system restore (my computer-right click-properties-sys restore and tick the box. Reboot and turn system restore back on. Adaware(free version) from click here and CWS shredder from click here . Run.

Having dealt with searchpage before, see click here and click here
there may well be other nasties lurking there, Hijackthis when misused can cause problems if the wrong things are disabled, some items it lists are needed for windows to run.

Thank you all very much for your help. The system restore didn't work, so I used the CW shredder which seems to have fixed the problems.
