Search for DVD creation slowed my XP system?

I have Sony laptop running XP with all the packages, sony digital camera with magic gate memory card. The short videos I can transfer to HD and CD. However I need to convert larger MPEG files to DVD format. I loaded various free-trial software packages but none worked. This is when my laptop slowed right down. The only other thing I loaded was Google Earth stuff. I removed them all and defragged Drive D (C was 'OK') Still had a snaily system. I bought XP medic but the unlock code they sent me didn't work, so I can't solve the problems it reported. Are these programs any good? Or am I wasting my cash? I would dearly love to create my DVD's too.

Unlikely its the software at fault more likely your pc and yes most of the programmes work but some users have more problems than others .Dvd work is very power hungry .If you say which programmes you have might be able to assist more .Meanwhile try this freebie click here also have alook at this site tons of info there click here
