Seagate Free Agent

  Maxton 11:52 27 Dec 2009

Have just purchased a Seagate Free Agent 640GB usb 2.0 to back up my system. (XP SP3)

When its connected the desktop will not 'boot up' when I disconnect it the desktop boots up no problem.

How can I rectify this as I have an Ipaq which is permanantly connected with no problems.

My computer right click - manage - storage -diskmanagement
right click the drive and check properties.

is the drive already formatted and assigned a drive letter?

You could check in the bios to make sure USB is not set as first boot.

I believe you are right but unsure how to rectify the concern in bios.

Checked what you advised and the device is named as Disk 1.
The device is 'Healthy'
