Help: just tried to fix the screen res on my kid bro's pc, was asked to reboot , did so and now when windows boots up im left with a completly black screen. I can see the boot up screens, but as soon as windows boots up everthing disappears.

Is there a way to fix this using the command prompt? If so does any1 know the commands?

Thanx in advance fox

Have you tried booting to safe mode and resetting the screen resolution?

Can you do a system restore ,Or last good configuration in safe mode.

It's definitly a safe mode job, I used to do it all the time but couldn't remember what the solution was until some one said it!!

sounds as if you have set the res to something that the graphics card or monitor can't handle so as above boot into safe mode, set to lowest resolution and refresh rate. If that fixes it go to control panel>display>monitor and tick 'hide modes that this monitor can't display' then re-boot and gradually, step by step increase the resolution
