i ran sfc scannow and it told me that files needed for windows to run properly must be copied to the dll cache .insert your windows xp professional service pack cd into your cd rom drive . Having done that i got the message - you have inserted the wrong cd - but i only have service pack 2 and on the label it states that it is for home , professional ,media center and tablet edition , so i cannot proceed . Help , where do go from here ?

Try inserting the actual Windows cd.... not the service pack cd.

try this site click here
it will give full instructions on what to do..it also tells you how to edit the registry to sort it out..back up registry first!! regards karl
