Saving messages in Thunderbird

I am having a bit of a nightmare and want to delete and reinstall Thunderbird. Is it possible to store my saved messages first?

You need to track your profile folder down, but be careful, there's more than one.

Take a look at some thing like:

C:\Windows\Profiles\[your name]\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\default.***\Mail

and save the Mail folder.

You will be able to see by the size of the folder and its contents if you have it right.

Your path many vary slightly, but if you use the Search facility in Windows Explorer, it should give you a good idea where to look.

Thanks LastChip

I found it by
Tools/Account Settings/Server settings and then the location is under local directory. Press browse and then right click on mail and send to my doceuments.

I can't open these files to view them. Can I drag and drop once I reinstall?

Providing you've found the correct file, save the Mail folder and put it back when you've carried out your maintenance.
