Saving images with email .eml files

  Batch 17:05 11 Jan 2009

I use Outlook Express and am wondering if there is a way to save images and other content associated with HTML emails when saving the mails as .eml files.

The reason I want to do this is that I want to save a complete email as it was at a given date (including such images, so that if I come back to it (much) later I can see the whole email as originally intended (e.g. because the images might not even exist at their source by then).

Have tried a straightforward save as a .eml file and when the file is opened for viewing, the images have to be downloaded again.

I use Incredimail and saved a lot of emails by right clicking on the mail and sending it to a pre labelled folder. Trouble was that after some time the content was turned into either machine coding or became corrupt.
Lesson: Don't keep them too long, or if you do , then move them around or view them regularly.
