Saving History in IE for later reading

  g0slp 10:31 05 Jul 2008

Hi all. I tried the search facility, & haven't had any joy...

Running IE7 on XP Home SP2.

I'd like to Export the IE History to my laptop, which is the same OS & IE version machine, in order to use it there. Can someone please advise. Thanks in advance.

(presumably it will transfer it in the usual "sites visited/dates" layout?)

You can't import or export a History folder.

Any websites you wish to preserve should be Bookmarked; History links are only retained for the number of days specified by you in the configuration (Tools>Internet Options<General tab)

Hi Stuartli

Thanks for the prompt response

Right, there are no 'save' facilities as such. However, there is a 'history' folder - would it be possible to save that to a stick & overwrite the folder in the other machine? Or am I likely to muck up the OS?

Perhaps the easiest way would be to Bookmark the URLs you wish to retain for future use and then Export them. See:

on how to Export them.

Thanks, I'll have a look & revert later today.
