Saving downloaded upgrades for Win 98SE

I have recently downloaded vital upgrades from Microsoft for my 98 SE OS. How can I save these to CD Rom so that I can re-install them at a future date should the need arise? Unfortunately, Microsoft will not allow you to specify a folder for downloading. As there are strong rumours abounding that Bill & pals are discontinuing updates for 95 & 98, I am concerned that I will lose these updates should any thing happen to my installation that will require reloading Windows. I will NEVER upgrade to XP whilst Microsoft continue to snoop into computer systems running XP!
