I am looking to buy a Garmin 250 or maybe a Nuvi 650. I don't know anything about satnavs. I am a avid country walker and have Memory - Map (1.50000) on DVDs. could I transfer the maps on to SD disk then to the Garmin.

If you want to use it for walking more than driving, I would suggest a mobile phone with built in satnav.

My XDA has "Co-pilot Live" installed. It can be used for walking as well as in car.

As far as the in car variety is concerned, mine came built in so can't really comment on the other makes.

But it seems to me that yer actual car style devices are not suitable for walking as the maps are road oriented- and as so very often found by large vehicle drivers not very good at that either.

You need another sort of instrument all together

Thanks. A good idea but I really need some thing a bit bigger so I can see it. I am a old wrinkly (64)eye sight not so good.

Not so wrinkly as me then[75]
