I'm thinking of upgrading my motherboard to a Socket 939 model, however i see the device controllers for the hard dive are SATA,my current board has IDE connectors??,will i still be able to connect these to new board?.

The motherboard will still have two IDE connections for optical drives and hard drives.
What motherboard is it and where are you buying from?

Another question as well what board would you recommend i go for ?.Nothing to expensive just a good gaming one.

Do you have a graphics card or are you getting a new one?

  rmcqua 22:54 23 Feb 2006

This would be a good middle - to - top of the range model that should do everything you need. There are more expensive ones, of course.

The Asus board you`ve mentioned is ok,but for gaming you want an nVidia nForce4 or ATI chipset as they are designed for gaming by graphics card manufacturers

007,yes am thinking of Graphics card as well, but not the way expaensive ones probably a 6800gt i need SLI in a motherboard?,only palnning to use one card as such?.

  007al 19:30 25 Feb 2006

You dont need SLi,but its an option to add another card later if you wanted.
This is not an expensive board for SLI.
Search Novatech on the link rmcqua gave, they have a large choice for all you want. The Gigabyte SLI boards start at under £70,so it could be worth considering dual cards.nvidia make the 6800GS instead of GT now, although the GT can still be found

One i have seen that has a good review is ASUS A8N-E SOCKET 939,might go for that.
