I have a sata backup drive in my pc it's a seagate 350gig one. I'm on Vista Ultimate and recently installed SP1. The drive will suddenly disappear and I can only get it back by a reboot. This sometimes gives me the drive for a couple of hours but most times it will be gone again in minutes. No hibernation, sleep or turn off drives after.... is enabled. It does not show in computer management or device manager.Done some googling but nothing seemed to help. Any ideas?

Check the cables are firmly attached, and is your power supply up to the task.

It might also pay you to back up any important files to cd/dvd in case the drive is going down.

I will check the cables now. The drive is only a month old, although that does not mean it is not failing.I have a 800ish watt psu can't remember offhand.
