Sata HDD

Is it possible to install a SATA HDD along side a IDE as master in the same PC? The Mobo does support SATA.

The boot drive in my PC is SATA and I also have 2 IDE drives installed one as Master and the second as slave as secondary drives. SATA drives don't need to be set as master and slave as only one drive can be used per SATA channel.

You may need to set the BIOS to boot from the SATA drive first, if you intend to install the OS to it and use it to boot into Windows. This would be preferred as SATA has a faster transfer rate than IDE.

Yes just set in the Bios the IDE drive as the first boot drive

Thanks. The reason for the query is i want to transfer some data from the sata HDD that was in another PC that has died! Would this be possble?

As an example my mobo has 6 SATA connectors and 1 primary EIDE connector.

Yeah I would imagine there would be no problem at all, again you might have to access the BIOS and set them to detect the drive and configure SATA as IDE in order to do so.
