sata harddrive

Hi, Trying to install xp on a new sata harddrive, it asks for a sata driver disc then it comes up with a list of drivers for xp or 2000, i choose xp, it continues with the install then i get the blue screen of death, help.

I've just re - installed XP Home on a new SATA drive alongside an IDE drive. I struggled with the install like yourself and eventually ignored the request for a driver disc and just continued with the install and treated the drive as a normal one and the installation concluded properly. The drivers etc. are already in the OS if you just let it run and after the final re-boot of the installation you should find the drive listed in Device Manager as a SCSI/RAID device.

you may find bios setting for your new drive need
setting to auto detect,sometimes taking one out one in not that easy
