Sata hard drive problems

Hi I recently installed a sata hard drive. My motherboard supports sata 1. I have moved the jumper setting on the back to 150. When I try to install windows it crashs when I try to partition the hard drive. Any ideas?

Are you using Windows XP? If so you will need to install the SATA drivers off a floppy when installing windows XP, I had the same problem, but was solved when the SATA drivers were installed.

Yes im using Windows xp, the problem is I don't have a floppy drive. I think I will have to get one. Thanks for your help.
