Sata Hard Drive PC Wont power up

ive just been and bought a new 300gig Sata hard drive

installed the drive in a free bay. connected the power lead and also connected the sata cable to the motherboard.

When i press the power button on PC nothing happens. but when i disconect the SATA Power lead the PC boots up with no problems.

any ideas

What size of psu do you have.
If you have a cd/dvd drive fitted disconnect and connect your sata drive.

If you can now boot your psu is probably not powerful enough.
