SATA Drivers for installing XP?

  jonargent 21:54 10 May 2008

I'm trying to install XP Pro x64 on my machine, but when it comes to the first screen, where you select the drive, my HDD doesn't appear. The only thing I can think is because its a SATA drive, I need drivers for it. Can anyone tell me where I can find this, and how to use them? The HDD is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 st3200827as, and my motherboard is a intel D945GCZ... Thanks!

Is the SATA hard drive SATA11 and can the motherboard take SATA 11 hard drives?

It looks like the motherboard does support SATA 11.

I'm not sure, but its a prebuilt Gateway computer, and the drive works fine with XP MCE which came preinstalled, and Vista installs fine.

If XP MCE came with the machine then the drivers would already be on the machine and vista probably has the drivers in it's cab files.

Use the link above to either write the two small files to floppy disk click here
( these will the ones windows needs on installation ) and the larger one click here
to a flash drive or put them all on to a flash drive.
