i just brought a SATA hard disk and was ready to install it and realised that it has 2 power sockets i have the power adapter for the smaller of the 2 sockets and the other is a normal power socket and was just wondering which one do i use??

A strict warning not to use BOTH at the same time, please DON'T... it will cause a short.

A short means a short circuit. That is current will run straight to earth with no resistance, this will blow a fuse/ the power supply/ catch fire or all three. If this is a new drive check the paper work that came with it.

Bascially, you are providing the drive with two sources of power supply, and you just can't do that at all.

As said by grey george, it could cause a fire, blow a fuse, powersupply or simply damage your drive.

I just had to stress not connecting both power cables. Just use one.
