According to its manual my mb (Asrock k7vt4a) supports supports Sata up to 1.5gb/s transfer rate.If I was to fit a Sata 2 drive giving 3gb/s transfer rate am I right in thinking it would only give Sata 1 (1.5gb/s) performance?
And you need to ask the question of the manufacturer whether a particular SATA2 drive would work on SATA1 - I've read of many problems in this area.
Thanks, just had a reply from Asrock technical support. The 300gb/s drives will work, but only at 150gb/s, and would possibly need the jumper setting changed to limit data transfer.
