Samsung 700t won't start on first boot

Hi, I have had a Samsung 700t notebook (windows 8) for just over a year. Last month, for some reason, when I press the power button to turn it on (after a shutdown), the power light and fan comes on but I have a black screen. I press the power button again (everything goes off) and I wait a minute, then press the button again and it starts straight away perfectly. I have tried taking it back to a previous windows update it didn't change, so updated windows and samsung drivers. I don't have any problem waking from sleep or hibernation. I have the same problem when doing a restart - "restarting windows", light/fan on, goes to black screen, I power off, then on again and starts ok.

Would anyone have any ideas? I have searched the net but cannot find anything similar.

Remove and refit memory modules and hard drive to remake connections.

Thanks Fruit Bat, but I cannot get into the machine to try your suggestion.
