Thats fine. I also have a xp2000 and it is 46c today and can go up to about 52c. If you look at amd site they are alright up to about 90c but i would not want mine anywhere near that.

I would start to worry around 65 degrees.

AMD do not give a recommended operating temp, just a max of 90 degrees for most of their cpu's.

Some are rated to a max. of 100 degrees.

But they do say the avarage system with an XP cpu will run in the range of 60 to 65 degrees. J.

only need it be worried if a cpu temp is over 50 and the PC is becoming unstable, i.e. crashing on cpu intensive tasks. Personlly had the same CPU running at 54, but it was stable - if it aint broke don't try and fix it.

i endorse the above, ignore it below 50 and only take action at 55+.

consider extra fans or a better heatsink and fan such as the zalman flower (keeps my xp2400 systems at 38C under full load)

fanatics would recommend more action.

A company from Scandinavia make a vapor chilling cooling sytem called prometheia that runs your CPU at MINUS 35 DEGRESS C (no, not a joke!) and why bother? - so that you can overclock a cheap XP2200 processor to speeds over 3000 without going above freezing point.

are you serious about the vapour chilling thing???

how does that woprk???
