Safe mode - what works?

  Nonnyriley 23:39 11 Mar 2003

Ok, I've just installed xp pro but I'm getting the same problem.

Normal startup wont load!, just shows the load up screen then goes black, green light on monitor but no loading at all!.

Safe mode works but I can't get the sound or the usb to work. Do usb ports work in safe mode?

In device manager theres no problems and everything works fine, so here's a summary.

Why can't my computer load in normal mode?

Does usb ports work in safe mode?

And if so wy don't they work for me?. I put in a joypad but nothing at all happens.

Soeone please help!!!!!

usb ports don't usually work in safe mode, although your sound probably should. only most basic drivers are installed when windows launches in safe mode.

I can't really say why your computer won't start in normal mode although from what you have said it sounds like a problem with your graphics card and/or monitor drivers.

Have you got latest drivers installed and are they xp compatible.

try using another monitor if poss. if the sme thing happens then it looks like your video card could be either faulty or maybe unseated.

most things won`t work in safe xp. if it still does not work then it looks like your hardware is incommpatible with xp.could you post your specs?

here my specs:

Amd 1800+
32mb graphics
40gb hdd

It's so annoying, It just won't sart in normal mode but works fine in safe mode but without the usb working.

I've did a clean installand the hard drive is fat 32.
