Safe mode problem with rebuild

  skidzy 19:09 03 Sep 2007

Hello all, this one has me stumped !

Ok,bought a motherboard bundle off Ebay.No Mobo driver disc.

No Post beeps

Problem is:

Everything seems to work except it will boot into safemode and when trying to load windows from any command it freezes.

XP Pro loaded,im thinking the MBR is corrupt.

Cannot boot from cd even if the bios is selected to boot from cd,this just takes me to safemode and again freezes.

Could this be a simple matter of the mobo drivers needed, but i thought windows would load the basic cd rom drivers from within xp.

I also cannot find anything about the mobo, this is all i have to go on PT-MB8000H

As some will know,i rebuild pc's cheaply and donate them to deprived children. This has been a success up to now with this blooming thing.

Ive been thinking of trying the NTFS bootdisk, but i do not think i will achieve anything.

Ive tried to reload windows, but just boots into safemode and freezes.

All ide cables are correct and even tried with just the hdd connected, swapped the ram about and still no joy.

Ok,hope this makes sense,as usual all advice and ideas greatly appreciated .

Thankyou to all.

Now the blooming thing wont switch off by the power button,i have to pull the power cord,

Think i will take out the hd and format in a caddy and see what happens.

Any ideas,keep them coming please.

Some info on the mobo would be good if anyone can find something.

Thanks again.

Think i have it sorted Woody, looks like the hdd was corrupted, now trying another drive ..huge drive of 4GB Lol.

Will let you know if windows loads ok.

Thanks for the input.

Thought id say before im told so....

I know 4Gb is not enough, but it is a test run till i find another drive.Lol

  skidzy 21:52 03 Sep 2007

All sorted,

Harddrive was corrupted and unrepairable, replaced with a small 4GB temporarily and all is fine.

Now i can run Belarc or SIW or PC Wizard and hopefully collect the missing drivers.

Thanks again Woodchip.

One reply to my thread, must be quiet on here tonight Lol :-))

The white writing I asked for is for the Motherboard. Google does not fetch anything up at all for it

  skidzy 22:18 03 Sep 2007

The mobo only has one white and black wire, this is the header for the reset switch. No other white wire im afraid.

All good so far,but like you said,Google throws up nothing about the mobo.
I have contacted the Ebay seller to see if he can enlighten me more and to see if he has the driver disc.

Writing not Wires on the Motherboard, Letters and Numbers

  skidzy 22:41 03 Sep 2007

ha ha sorry Woody, tell where im concentrating on.

Still got the power problem and im pretty sure its the headers.

I have a couple of headers that are named different to the the WHITE letters on the mob.

What ever combination i use,the machine will not power down.

It boots really quickly in windows as expected, but will not shut down.

Starting to think of a new mobo !!!

If only a manual hey !
