Where can i find out exactly what is currently running on my Pc,and how I go about recognising and closing them as my RAM is slowly getting sucked into oblivion, I have 512mb but at the moment I only have 186mb free, is this normal ?

Alt+Ctrl+Delete will tell you whats running in the background. To stop them go to Start Run and type msconfig and click on the Startup tab where you can stop programs from running at start up by unticking them. The only ones not to touch are Systray and Explorer.

Free RAM is not actually doing anything to speed up your computer. You installed the memory to use it, not to let it sit idle just in case you need it.
