Is it possible to run two computers (with the same OS) with one monitor.
If so how, and will it have problems.
I don't have the room for two monitors on my desk.

Yep it it certainly is. What you need is a switch box in order to switch from one pc to the other. The setup is very easy, and the boxes can be got from any good pc retailer.

You need a KVM switch. My friend is running two computers, one on Win 98SE and the other on Win XP.

With the KVM switch you only need 1 monitor, 1 mouse and 1 keyboard. Both PCs can be up and running and to switch between either you just hit the Scroll Lock key twice. Works like a dream.

Various ways you can do this, something like this (check connections - you may need a USB or PS/2 version depending on how your mouse + keyboard connect to your PC):

which allows you to switch between the 2 comps on one keyboard, screen & mouse.

Alternatively if you can network the 2 you can use something like VNC / Remote Desktop (if XP) to control the 'slave' PC.

KVM stands for "Keyboard, VisualDisplay,Mouse"

silverous, snap indeed. But the one you have linked to is the one my friend has.

Could you just run an external hard drive with win98se and boot from that drive?

Or don't be so greedy and just have one PC ;) Joking!

Thanks all, I thought it might be a bit more difficult.
