Rundll32.exe and XP Home

  driving man 22:08 11 May 2007

In task manager I find that Rundll32.exe is hogging all the CPU resources.
This is slowing things down to a crawl.
My laptop using XP home as well does not show Rundll32.exe in task manager.
Why the difference and why is the Rundll.exe slowing things down.

Any ideas lads and lasses
PS It takes CPU usage up to 99% to 100%
Anythoughts or fixes appreciated

Try ending the process. Does it show in msconfig?

No trace of it in msconfig

Download Process Explorer, driving man, see if you can spot where it is located or what it's doing. click here

Just thought I would confirm that Rundll32.exe is spelt correctly and is not a trojan purporting to be the real thing. However I do not know if it is possible a "nasty" has taken over my file

It should not be running unless you ask it to, click here

The real rundll.exe should be located in the 'C:\Windows\System32' folder, driving man. Did you read my last post about Process Explorer?

  MAJ 23:09 11 May 2007

Of course that should read rundll32.exe
