Router or not ?

Im looking into wireless (54g, Belkin £26.97) home networking - do i just buy 2 wireless cards (for 2 Pcs) OR do i need a router aswell ?

Depends on whether you want either PC to be able to connect to the internet when the other is turned off. If you can describe your current system and what you want your future system to do then somebody can help you.

Main Pc - 3.06Ghz P4 Ht 1Gb ram Xp Home with internet access , other Pc 433 mhz celery 512Mb ram (upstairs) internet access not neccessary (im going to upgrade this one to xp). Ive cabled them before but my daughter wants to play disc games with me (Darkstone) and eventually when we can afford broadband they will both have internet access through the main Pc.

What you are setting up is called "Peer to Peer / Ad-hoc" net and do not need router for this. You can get idea and setup instruction from homenethelp click here.

Router option is neater, but you can leave it until you go for BB.
