router download speed

Hi All.
I have the RANGEMAX WPN824 wired to my Pc and my laptop connects via centrino.
I have no issues with my internet connection and download speeds when using the Pc.When I use my laptop, the download speed at times is almost 50% less.

I'm aware that download speed vary at certain times of the day,and that available bandwidth can cause slow downs. But surely if I download from the same web site using the Pc then my laptop, there should not be a noticeable difference ?.

Any tips on how to improve download speeds please

Thanks for taking the time to read this thread, here from you soon.

Ps,I have used the laptop in the same room as the router still the same

Unfortunately you will never get the same speeds from wireless as wired. I have a Centrino and see similar results to you.

You could possibly improve things by tweaking your MTU/RWIN settings using an application called TCP Optimizer available from click here Select your wireless card from the dropdown and set the slider to your current connection speed and click on Optimal settings and it will configure things for you.

Updating your Intel card to the latest wireless may also help.
