Hi can anyone help me with this i have been asked by a freind to restore thier pc back to when they first got it (about 2 years ago)he is constantly haveing probs with IE and other programmes not running/crashing and it has got to the point where he says he cannot be botherd with it as it will not run as it did before.Have tried all sorts of repairs to IE and allso tried Firefox, opera and others. The only problem is that he says that he does not have a reinstallation disc to set it as it was when he bought it,i can recall reading in other threads that you can restore it to factory settings from the H/D but am unaware as to where this is, Any help on this would be great.

Create a "Recovery Boot Disk" from

If the hidden partition is still present. this will allow the recovery to factory, if the recovery partition has been deleted then the only alternative is to purchase the CD's from PB.

If you need to identify the model type then

and enter the serial number.

Try F11 on boot up as this can also allow access to the factory reset, provided as above the 2Gb recovery partition is still available on the HD.

As far as I can remember from my last pc, a PackarBell Imedia, that it had it's own System Restore whereby you could repair damaged program files. However to take it right back to factory default the disks were required.
