Retrieving Files from a HDD - Windows 7 Bitlocker?

Trying to decide on which version of Windows 7 to get.

Ultimate has Bitlocker which auto encrypts all files.

In an emergency I have often had to retrieve important stuff from a corrupt (non-booting) hard drive, by putting that hard drive in an external caddy and attaching it to another PC to .

I'm wondering if I will still be able to do this if the corrupted HDD is encrypted by Bitlocker?

If I can't retrieve files in that way then I guess I'll just go for the Pro version without bitlocker.

I reckon the free TrueCrypt (click here) will be good enough for the majority of users - read this related article click here. G

OK thx Crossbow7,

Still wondering if it possible to retrieve data from an encrypted hard drive by attaching it to another PC?

Well I don't think I'll bother with encryption.
It's just another hasle should I need to recover files in an emergency.
Besides it's not like I work for MI5!

So that rules out Windows 7 ultimate. now just have to decide between Home Premium or Pro 7.

Only advantage of the Pro version would be Win Xp Compatibility Mode. I'm currently using XP but I'm not sure how useful that's going to be either?
