Restoring "show desktop" button

For some reason my new Evesham XP pc does not have a "Show Desktop" button in the quick launch toolbar.

Had one on my old pc.

I have looked up the Elder Geek who advises:

If the Show Desktop icon is deleted from Quick Launch, the procedure below will recreate the file.

"Open Notepad and enter the following text:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Save the new file as Show Desktop.scf then drag and drop the icon on the Quick Launch bar or whatever location you want the shortcut to appear".

I'm not sure what I do after I have created the text in Notepad? Where/how do I send it?

Also...will the new icon to be dragged "appear" when new file is saved?

Please excuse ignorance on my part, I don't usually dabble in this techie stuff.
