How can I restore my AOL Try Icon without having to re-install the Software??

Click on start-Search- All files and folders and enter aoltray.exe. When found, double click on this entry and the toolbar icon should re appear.

Run one-click fixes click here and scroll down to AOL classics and run quick restore.

Note that it returns to a default state so you need to save your favourites to desktop. You'll also loose your favourites in the tool bar.

You can do this in Explorer.

Go to Start and right click it and select Explore.........now make sure you can see hidden files by clicking Tools>Folder Options and highlighting the "Show hidden files and Folders" button.

Apply and ok out.

Now navigate to Program Files>AOL 9.0 (assuming you are using AOL 9.0) and find the file aoltray(.exe)

Right click it and select copy.

Now navigate to Documents and Settings>All Users>Start Menu>Programs.

Find the Startup folder and open it.Now right click in open space within that folder and select Paste.

You should now have a shortcut to AOLtray.exe in the startup folder.

Click it to start the tray icon and it will automatically start next time you reboot.

Remember to go back in to Tools>Folder Options and tick "Do not show hidden files......" before exiting Explorer (if you want).
