Restart worm/virus! How to get rid of it?

  BeForU 20:35 04 May 2004

Hello. My aunty's computer seems to have been affected by a worm that restarts the computer after 2-5 minutes of boot-up time into the desktop. I've tried to use the Stinger program to get rid of it, and although it says that it has gotten rid of like 20 something worms and virus etc, the stupid thing still restarts.

I can't remember what worm it is, but it is that common one that restarts the computer with the a pop-up window and a timer on it. And on it, is says something to do with the 'lsaas.exe' file.

I've never dealt with this worm/virus myself before, so my only option to remove the virus was to reformat the computer but my aunty has too many important files stored and I dont want to delete them all.

So can anybody help please as to how to get rid of this?

Thanks for that Gandalf. I happened to have noticed these threads just after making my post as well! Guess I need to learn to read through the forums before making a post, but was in a hurry so didnt think.
