Resolution problem

Hello all.

Following the reinstallation of Windows (XP Home, SP2 and updates) my laptop screen is rather bright and all Windows (not web-based) 'text' is a fainter - rather like an image with a lot of light behind it and so less solid. Images are OK.

If I go to Control Panel/Display/Settings the Screen resolution slider is set at High. I cannot slide it towards lower, it will only go to completely lower if I double click the slide pointer - and that is ghastly.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try enabling ClearType:

Right click on your Desktop
Click the Appearance tab
Click the Effects box
Click Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:
Select ClearType

What is your screen resolution set to at present?
Have you installed the necessary graphics card/adapter drivers?

You can get it done for you using the MS ClearType tuner
