I hibernate the machine at end of the day.
This normally fires her up straight away with the 'resume windows' legend.
Recently however like just now on switch on
'Boot from Cd' comes up and the system hangs.
Hitting the re-set and the POST continues and the Resume Windows comes up and we go from where left we off.
Why the hang at Boot from CD?

I found if you consistenly Hibernate your computer it forgets what it is supposed to do. I would always close it down at the end of the day so it clears itself of the many files it makes in a day. Try it and see if that fixes it.

I had a wrestle with XP's Hibernate,it either hung on restart and looped with reset or if it choose to resume in the normal way,I found my SATA drives had switched off(invisible in explorer)I gave in,and now use Standby instead.

I tuess a 'Clean Start' is best
Someyimes however you like to know where you left off.
AT my age I allways struggle with what I am supposed to be doing, even if distracted by a few moments
